About

This website is about personal development. Now why in the world would I want to do that? Aren’t there enough of those littering the cyber-landscape already?

At last count, there are roughly 18.5 jillion personal development blogs, websites, YouTube channels, and other motivational/inspirational/personal development resources online. Why even enter the fray?

Well, the truth is, I just like writing about the topic. It’s a form of therapy for me. It helps me sort my own thoughts out about important concepts and principles, as well as how they apply in everyday life, in a very practical sense.

That’s what the phrase “A Moment of Choice” is all about. It’s the foundation of all progress—your decisions. Your choices. The way you choose, and what you choose, moment by moment, largely determines how your future is going to turn out. If you learn to choose wisely, intently, carefully, and with a long-term perspective, you will find that your life choices will serve you well. If you’re rash, undisciplined, impulsive, or lacking foresight, you’ll find that your life choices will drive you into unproductive or even disastrous situations that can sometimes take years to clean up.

I’m not going to promise that I’ll have reams of peer-reviewed research to back up everything I’m saying. More than anything else, I’m striving for practicality, and sometimes that requires good old-fashioned trial and error. Besides, much of the wisdom and knowledge that produces a successful life was around way before anyone ever did an empirical, data-driven study of it. I believe that life itself is a heck of a teacher, but it’s always better to learn from other people’s mistakes rather than your own, whenever you can help it.

So again, the thoughts and ideas I’ll be sharing on this website are just that—my own thoughts and ideas. No guarantees, no warranties, no promises, no cheesy “rah-rah” foolishness, and no fire walking or board-breaking challenges. Take the things that are useful and apply them, and whatever you don’t find useful, don’t worry about it. Chew the meat, spit out the bones. I hope you enjoy your visit!
